This...
I have to share a moment from the Art Market yesterday with you.
For the most part, it was really slow. I made one sale yesterday after sitting there for four hours.
You might be thinking, "Well, that sucks! I don't think I could have stayed there that long for just one sale."
Let me tell ya...
I little boy and his mom came over to my booth yesterday. I'd say he was about three years old, and in each hand he had what looked like chunks of concrete - you know the kind. They look like rocks but are really just broken pieces of cement. His mom pointed out all of the rocks on the tables, and that boy's eyes got as big as saucers! "Rocks!" he said, almost whispering. The joy in his eyes as he looked over all of the shiny, painted rocks was fantastic. I showed his mother the Rock Varmints and explained how they are a good tool in teaching children the importance of responsible pet care. They have to pick a Varmint, name it, and "care" for it. She agreed it would be great. She asked if I had any sea animals, and I told her I didn't (yet...stay tuned for that one), or any bugs. As it happened, the only bug I had was one of the macabres, a Varmint called Spiderstitch.
Long story short, he was thrilled with the Varmint, he got the Varmint companion guide, and left walking on cloud 9, waving his Varmint's box at everyone as they walked to their car.
So, why share this? Well, there's really more to the story than that, and yeah, I only sold the Varmint and one of the other smaller rocks, but my day was a success.
Why? Because I got to see the wonder, awe, and joy in that boy's eyes as he took that Varmint home. He was so excited! This, this was my reward for the day.
I hope I have many more days like this one!
