I have to share a moment from the Art Market yesterday with you. For the most part, it was really slow. I made one sale yesterday after sitting there for four hours. You might be thinking, "Well, that sucks! I don't think I could have stayed there that long for just one sale." Let me tell ya... I little boy and his mom came over to my booth yesterday. I'd say he was about three years old, and in each hand he had what looked like chunks of concrete - you know the kind. They look like rocks but are really just broken pieces of cement. His mom pointed out all of the rocks on the tables, and that boy's eyes got as big as saucers! "Rocks!" he said, almost whispering. The joy in his eyes as he looked over all of the shiny, painted rocks was fantastic. I showed his mother the Rock Varmints and explained how they are a good tool in teaching children the importance of responsible pet care. They have to pick a Varmint, name it, and "care" for it. She a...

Meet Tommy Ball * Varmint of Curiosities

Image
Howdy! I'm Tommy Ball—and I've been adopted! 🤠 My human, Michael, is a collector and curator of curiosities, especially treasures from our hometown of Tomball, Texas. Wouldn’t you know it—I’d just rolled into town when he found me! Sure, I started out on a sun-soaked beach in Mexico (pretty dreamy, right?), but fate had other plans. I tumbled my way north and landed in Michael’s shop—a wonderland of oddities and delights. There’s a monkey lamp in the window that’s always watching, some delightfully strange artwork on the walls, and shelves packed with stories waiting to be told. And Michael? He’s the real gem—kind, curious, and just the right amount of quirky. Since joining the crew, I’ve already made my social media debut. Okay, okay… maybe I’m not a full-blown TikTok star yet, but I was featured in one of Michael’s reels. Fame starts somewhere, right? I’ve been soaking up the vibes here—learning the local legends, meeting other adopted oddballs, and trying to figure out what...

Meet Pebbleton

Image
Well, hello! Allow me to introduce myself. I am Pebbleton De'G Ode. I am the Official of the Varmint Nation and Varmint-at-Large. I didn’t run for office. I didn’t win a contest. I just… showed up one day with a clipboard and a very convincing hat. And everyone agreed: “Yep, that’s our guy.” As Official, I do a little bit of everything: I help new Varmints find their forever humans. I keep track of names, nicknames, and snack-related secrets. I approve accessories like bow ties, backpacks, and snack pouches. Especially snack pouches. One time, during a tumble that got a little too twirly, I chipped a bit along my side. Everyone rushed over, worried I might crumble. But guess what? Inside me were tiny sparkling crystals—like glittery sprinkles hiding in a cookie! The Varmints called it “The Glittering Incident,” and now I shine a little when the sun hits just right. It’s not painful. It’s just part of being me. Some rocks have moss. I have sparkle. I travel all over the Varmint N...

Meet the Rock Varmint: A Pocket-Sized Companion with Big Personality

Image
In a world full of noise, the Rock Varmint is a quiet revolution. No batteries, no blinking lights—just a hunk of stone with a soul. Whether nestled in your palm or perched on a bookshelf, each Varmint carries a story, a mood, and a mission: to be adopted, adored, and occasionally misunderstood. Born from the dusty trails of imagination and polished by the grit of generational humor, Rock Varmints aren’t just collectibles—they’re companions. Some wear cowboy hats . Others sport glittery cloaks . A few refuse accessories altogether, preferring the raw dignity of their natural form. But all of them come with a passport , a care guide , and a name that might just make you snort-laugh in public. This blog is your gateway to the Varmintverse : a place where adoption rituals are sacred, sticker logos are gritty, and parade illustrations are a legitimate form of diplomacy. Whether you're a seasoned collector or a curious newcomer, we invite you to explore the lore, meet the c...

Meet the Maker

🎨 Meet the Maker: Behind the Varmints with Lois Before the Rock Varmints were parading across passports and posing for adoption photos , they were just a glimmer in the mind of Lois—a visionary with paint-stained fingers, a sharp eye for emotional resonance, and a knack for turning stone into story. Lois doesn’t just make Varmints. She creates them. Each one is hand-painted, one-of-a-kind, and infused with personality, whether it’s a glitter-drenched cowboy or a minimalist rebel who refuses accessories on principle. The process is part ritual, part rebellion: selecting the right rock, imagining its backstory, and layering on color, texture, and attitude until it practically demands a name. But Lois’s magic goes beyond the brush. She's built an entire Varmintverse —complete with care guides, adoption certificates, and gritty logo stickers (soon to come) that feel like relics from a forgotten roadside curiosity shop. Her work blends playful storytelling with practical design, mak...
